- ✓Supervised Panchakarma & Post-Therapy Care
Originating directly from Kerala Ayurveda, Pizhichil (also known as Sarvangadhara) is a phenomenally powerful, dual-action therapy. It masterfully combines two fundamental Ayurvedic treatments simultaneously: Snehana (deep therapeutic oleation) and Swedana (therapeutic sweating/heating).
For roughly one hour, the patient is essentially "bathed" in vast quantities of continuously flowing, warm medicated oil, squeezed in rhythmic synchronization by trained therapists, ensuring deep penetration directly into the bone marrow and nervous system.
This procedure reigns supreme against the most severe forms of Vata-vyadhi (Vata-related disorders). When Vata dosha causes severe neuro-muscular depletion, localized therapies fail. Pizhichil saturates the entire system with lipid-soluble medicines, rapidly repairing neural pathways, arresting cellular degeneration, and turning back the biological clock.

Core Therapeutic Advantages
- Arrests Degeneration: Slows down the progression of degenerative diseases like osteoporosis, Parkinson's disease, and generalized muscular atrophy.
- Cures Joint Stiffness: The unprecedented oil saturation heavily lubricates the synovial fluid in major joints, treating severe arthritis and spondylitis.
- Soothes Neuropathy: Vastly improves nerve conduction and heals peripheral neuropathy, tingling, and numbness in the limbs.
- Reverses Premature Aging: The heavy Snehana (oleation) hydrates cellular tissues, restoring elasticity to the skin and vitality to the internal organs.
- Strengthens Immunity: Purges deep-seated bone and marrow toxins, replenishing Ojas (the subtle essence of immunity and vitality).
- Repairs Fractures: Accelerates the healing time of bone fractures, dislocations, and deep ligament tears due to massive localized nutrition.
Phased Treatment Procedure
Phase 1: Purvakarma
A thorough Naadi Pariksha (pulse diagnosis) is conducted to ensure the patient has no acute digestive toxins (Ama) and is suited for intensive oil saturation.
Huge quantities (up to 3-4 liters) of medicated oil (like Dhanwantharam or Mahanarayana Tailam) are specifically brewed and heated to a highly comfortable, lukewarm temperature.
A cooling paste (Talam) is applied to the crown of the patient's head and a cloth is tied to protect the brain from excessive heat dissipation from the hot oils applied to the body.
Phase 2: Pradhana Karma
Two to four expert therapists station themselves on either side of the patient. Using special linen cloths dipped in hot oil, they rhythmically squeeze the warm oil over the patient’s body.
The pouring of oil is perfectly synchronized with gentle, sweeping massage strokes along the marmas (energy pathways) and muscle fibers, moving downwards toward the extremities.
The continuous bathing and massage are performed in seven classical postures: sitting, lying flat on the back, on the right side, left side, face down, and sitting again, ensuring total body coverage.
Phase 3: Pashchatkarma
Excess oil is carefully wiped off using traditional cotton cloths. The patient will experience mild, therapeutic sweating (Swedana) due to the accumulated warmth in the body.
The patient takes a warm bath using a specialized Ayurvedic herbal powder scrub instead of soap, helping strip away dead skin cells and superficial excess oil while sealing in the deep nourishment.
The patient must adhere strictly to a very light, warm, and easily digestible diet, avoiding cold water and drafts to maximize the Vata-pacifying structural repairs.
